Seven undergraduate and two graduate students, along with Dr. Minson, recently attended the annual regional conference of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Northwest Chapter. Four undergraduates presented posters: Taylor Eymann, Sarianne Harris, Nakai Corral, and Jared Steele. Dr. Minson was an invited speaker and spoke of the performance and health benefits of heat acclimation.

The conference was a huge success! Taylor Eymann won an award for best Undergraduate Environmental Thematic Poster, and Jared Steele, Alysia Lovemark, and Keeley Debar won the undergraduate College Bowl, winning them FitBits and a trip to the national conference.

September 7-12, 2014

We recently traveled to Kruger National Park in South Africa to attend the 2014 International Symposium on the Physiology & Pharmacology of Temperature Regulation.

Dr. Minson was an invited speaker for the conference, presenting his work on peripheral adaptations to heat acclimation. Vienna Brunt, Brett Ely, and Michael Francisco all presented new data related to our passive heat therapy and exercise & environmental physiology projects. Check out the pull-down for “Projects” for more information on these research areas.
